At BIT, Associate Advisors are the junior members of our team, starting their careers in the field of behavioural science. This opportunity is perfect for someone who is enthusiastic about applying behavioural insights to improve the lives of citizens.
This role is a Full-Time Permanent position based in our Raffles Place office with a hybrid working pattern.
What makes a great Associate Advisor?
- Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to translate complex ideas into plain language.
- A good understanding of the behavioural science literature and how it can be applied to impact policy.
- Some statistical literacy, understanding sampling methods, trial design, data collection and analysis.
- Organisational skills and the ability to balance the demands of several activities with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and working under pressure.
- The ability and willingness to learn and develop skills.
- A Bachelor, Masters or PhD in a relevant subject area (including, but not limited to: economics, psychology, statistics, anthropology, sociology, public health, design thinking, research methods). We also welcome candidates who may be taking non-traditional routes to behavioural science, such as those who have backgrounds in computer science, engineering, or the humanities. In general, we encourage candidates who have an interest in and understanding of what drives human behaviour to apply.
Desirable
- 1-2 years of previous professional work experience.
- Previous experience of working with primary data, R preferred.
- Whilst the working language of the office is English, proficiency in any language commonly spoken in the region (e.g. Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), Tagalog, Tamil, etc) would be beneficial.
What does an Associate Advisor do?
The successful candidate can expect to:
- Assist in the design of projects across a broad range of policy areas
- Deliver projects in the Singapore team’s portfolio. This could include preparing policy papers, trial checklists, ideas notes, and literature review as well as working with senior colleagues to implement these projects.
- Work with colleagues across the organisation to build a positive and collaborative culture and ensure that quality is maintained across the business.
- Listen to the objectives and requirements of the organisation seeking advice from BIT, identifying problems, determining the appropriate research methodology with support from our specialist researchers and advising organisations based on these findings.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research, including surveys, interviews, participant observation and desktop research
- Share and communicate insights through activities such as running workshops with clients, or supporting the presentation of project findings.

Candidates with the top scoring answers will be invited to a structured interview where you get to meet some of the team. At the interview stage, you will be asked questions that reflect the role and also to complete a work-based task, so you have the chance to demonstrate your skills.
