What we are looking for:
We are looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to lead a key Software Engineering division in North America.

What you will be doing:
The Director of Engineering is a Senior Leadership role which will oversee end-to-end development processes while building and scaling high performing engineering teams.
**Hybrid in either Ottawa, Ontario OR Addison, Texas.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic and technical leadership for your engineering division
Oversee the end-to-end development of innovative B2B products, both on-premises and SaaS offerings
Scale engineering teams effectively while maintaining quality and delivery standards
Mentor engineering managers and help mature development processes
Drive technical excellence and innovation across the organization
Collaborate with product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver customer value
Help implement engineering best practices, standards, and metrics within your area
Manage resource allocation, technology stack decisions, and technical debt
Proactively identify risks and bottlenecks and work strategically to mitigate them
Lead recruitment efforts to build world-class engineering talent
Qualifications:
8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in leadership roles
Proven track record delivering complex B2B products (both on-premises and SaaS solutions)
Experience scaling engineering teams and establishing mature development processes
Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software architecture
Excellent leadership skills with experience mentoring managers and technical leaders
Strategic thinking with the ability to balance technical excellence and business needs
Experience implementing agile methodologies and continuous improvement practices
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
Global Experience: The team you lead will be largely based in North America but key internal stakeholders may be internationally distributed. There is potential of team growth and expansion in the future.
Willingness to travel
Bonus Points:
Experience with modern software development practices (CI/CD, DevOps, microservices)
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Understanding of security best practices for enterprise software
Experience with data-driven decision making and performance metrics
