Picnic

Amsterdam, Netherlands
Posted on Aug 12, 2023

At Picnic, we’re revolutionizing the way people buy groceries with our innovative and sustainable app-only service. We do almost everything in-house, developing cutting-edge technologies and processes to ensure we continue to grow rapidly without missing a beat. We’re offering you the opportunity to join the diverse team at our Amsterdam HQ and make a real difference in our scale-up environment.

🥜 In a nutshell

When faced with the challenge of optimizing the routes our electric vehicles drive, we decided to develop our own delivery model. We constantly strive to improve this model to ensure a stable workload and the best possible service for our customers. We can influence the model by changing delivery times, expanding the delivery area, tuning drive-and-drop times, and more.

As Distribution working student, your role is to maintain the drivers in this model. You’ll proactively spot issues and find pragmatic solutions, and work closely with your direct colleagues to optimize our last-mile delivery. Your customer-oriented mindset and hands-on approach will help make sure our operations run smoothly every day!

🎯 What you’ll do

  • Configure our delivery model by making sure that all components, such as the order slots, delivery areas, drive times, and vehicle types, are up to date
  • When a hub opens you determine the division of the new delivery area in sub-areas and make sure we have the corresponding delivery schedules ready to start delivery. You use this to configure our master planning system
  • Evaluate and analyze our configurations of current delivery areas with a view to improving our KPIs (delivery times, on-time, etc.)
  • Rearrange current delivery areas based on observed customer order behavior
  • Make appropriate adjustments to the delivery schedules and trip planning to deal with abnormal circumstances (traffic, weather, seasonal, etc.)
  • Be the point of contact for our operational managers to support (temporary) changes or inefficiencies in our delivery model

⭐ About you

  • Pursuing your Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Supply Chain, Informatics, Logistics Management, or related Fluency in Dutch and English, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical skills with a structured and accurate approach
  • MS Excel skills and a love for data-driven projects
  • Eager to learn more about endpoints, Qgis, Json, Tableau, SQL, Python, etc.
