The Windows team is growing in Microsoft, India with a broad range of innovation opportunities on both the in-market versions of Windows and the next version. We are also focused on building features that enhance the Windows experience for commercial customers and partners. Responsibilities
We're looking for software engineers who are comfortable working in C++ and want to build features that ship to customers and partners at a global scale.
You will be chartered with delivering highly requested features from commercial customers and partners. Anything that ships within Windows is in the purview of this team!
In this role you will have the opportunity to design and develop software and services at scale, innovating with the latest technologies, following modern engineering practices, leveraging cutting-edge AI-powered tools for software development.
- You'll foster technical relationships with partner teams, provide technical leadership, and mentor other engineers to help grow their skills and impact.
- Work within a highly skilled team of engineers to deliver revolutionary improvements to Windows and scale them.
- Works with appropriate Windows stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
- Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
- Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
- Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
- Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
- OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of overall experience shipping commercial software including 1+ years of experience in C/C++.
- Excellent design, coding, debugging, teamwork, and communication skills.
- A customer focused innovation mindset.
- Passionate about craftsmanship in engineering.
- Experience with cross-group design and coordination is an advantage.
