Responsibilities
- Contributes to feature requirements and helps refine implementation plans under technical leadership.
- Authors and improves design documents for product features with guidance and oversight.
- Develops, debugs, and maintains code for product features using modern engineering tools and practices.
- Collaborates to create and execute test plans that improve quality, reliability, and performance.
- Automates and improves production and deployment processes to strengthen operational excellence.
- Ensures security, privacy, and compliance requirements are incorporated throughout feature development and release.
- Learns and applies new approaches to improve platform performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Experience building and operating large‑scale distributed services (cloud or hybrid).
- Experience with content distribution, update delivery, caching, or CDN‑style systems.
- Experience applying secure coding practices (for example, threat modeling, dependency hygiene, vulnerability mitigation).
- Experience with observability and live‑site operations (logging, metrics, tracing, incident response).
- Experience with CI/CD and deployment automation for production services.
- Experience optimizing performance and resource utilization for Windows devices (for example, battery life and network efficiency).
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
