Overview

Bring your cloud and AI engineering expertise to our Financial Services, Superannuation and Insurance (FSI) team and help shape the future of Australia and New Zealand’s most critical financial institutions. In this role, you will architect modern, secure, and intelligent applications on Azure for leading banks, insurers, and superannuation funds—powering the digital, data, and AI‑driven experiences relied on by millions of customers every day.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more. We bring this mission to life through a growth mindset, a culture grounded in respect, integrity, and accountability, and an inclusive environment where every individual can thrive and grow.

The Customer Success Unit organisation exists to help customers realise business value faster through differentiated, outcome‑driven experiences enabled by Microsoft technology. Our people play a pivotal role in guiding organisations through complex cloud, application modernisation, and AI transformation journeys—particularly within highly regulated and risk‑sensitive FSI environments.

As a CE&S Cloud and AI Solution Architect specialising in Applications and AI, you will own the end‑to‑end technical relationship with FSI customers across ANZ. You will guide the adoption of modern Azure application platforms and AI‑enabled solutions, designing secure, resilient, cloud‑native, and AI‑ready architectures that meet stringent regulatory, security, privacy, and compliance requirements.

You will lead customers through cloud‑native development, DevOps and platform engineering transformation, and responsible AI integration—connecting business outcomes with the right Azure application and AI capabilities. Your work will enable faster innovation, improved developer productivity, and reduced time‑to‑value, while maintaining the trust, governance, and operational resilience required in the FSI sector.

This role is ideal for someone who is deeply hands‑on with application platforms and modern software engineering practices, and who can operate as a trusted technical advisor to senior technology and business stakeholders. You will influence architecture decisions, collaborate cross‑functionally, and guide customers from strategy through to delivery across complex, high‑impact FSI workloads.

You will work alongside a highly skilled team of peers who will challenge and support you as you deepen your technical leadership and deliver innovative application and AI solutions that shape outcomes for banks, insurers, and superannuation organisations across Australia.

This role can be based in either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane with flexible work arrangements supported.

If you meet most, but not all, of the requirements, we encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives, learning mindset, and potential just as much as experience.

Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership & Architecture Delivery

• Lead deep technical architecture discussions with FSI customer CTOs, Chief Architects, technology risk leaders, and engineering teams, focusing on Azure application platforms, AKS, App Services, cloud native architectures, DevOps, and AI enabled solutions.

• Own key production grade outcomes across application modernisation and AI platform workloads, ensuring architectures are secure, resilient, compliant, scalable, and cost governed in regulated environments.

• Assess customer application landscapes to identify modernisation, resilience uplift, cost optimisation, and AI driven innovation opportunities, aligned to FSI risk, security, and regulatory expectations.

• Apply Azure Well Architected Framework principles with emphasis on security, availability, recoverability, data protection, and operational resilience.

2. Customer Success & Value Realisation

• Act as a trusted advisor to FSI customers, guiding them through application and AI platform adoption while maximising business value, platform health, resilience, and consumption outcomes.

• Partner with customer stakeholders and account teams to shape, refine, and execute Customer Success Plans aligned to business outcomes, regulatory posture, and transformation roadmaps.

• Drive customer technical intensity through architecture workshops, design sessions, hackathons, and community engagements focused on cloud native and AI powered application development.

• Support Cloud Accelerate Factory led engagements, enabling zero cost deployment assistance to help customers safely jump start Azure application and AI workloads.

3. Delivery Excellence

• Deliver repeatable, high quality architecture and implementation patterns, contributing to shared IP, reference architectures, pipelines, and best practices to accelerate and de risk delivery.

• Provide delivery oversight across Unified Support, Factory, and modernisation engagements, helping unblock escalations and ensuring strong architectural governance and execution discipline.

• Support resiliency and production readiness initiatives across mission critical FSI workloads.

4. Collaboration & Influence

• Work closely with Microsoft product engineering, partner organisations, and internal specialists to remove delivery blockers and shape customer aligned application and AI solutions.

• Partner with systems integrators and service providers to scale application modernisation and AI delivery across complex FSI portfolios.

• Mentor early in career Cloud Solution Architects and support capability uplift across the Applications CSA community through coaching, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership.
