Microsoft AI Organization aims to the best user experience for Web Search, Advertisement, Cloud, and Enterprise services. The Search Experience Group in Microsoft AI has more than 400 scientists and engineers, working on various NLP/Advanced AI techniques and applications.

We’re seeking passionate and experienced engineers and scientists to advance our mission of delivering the best-in-class search experience. You’ll work with state‑of‑the‑art models and a modern tech stack across a wide range of NLP and Advanced AI technique challenges, driving both foundational innovation and real product impact.

Key focus areas

  • Document understanding — building systems that interpret, structure, and reason over complex content
  • Query understanding — modeling user intent to deliver highly relevant results
  • Answer triggering and ranking — determining when and how to surface the best answers
  • Content generation — producing high‑quality, context‑aware responses across modalities
  • Cutting‑edge tech innovation — pushing the boundaries of model capabilities and translating breakthroughs into user‑facing featuress

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.



Responsibilities
  • Drive core technologies and E2E production delivery by leveraging State-of-Art technologies.
  • Address challenges in products through SOTA approaches and transfer novel ideas to production applications.
  • Development of deep learning models for Microsoft AI scenarios, including search and AIGC answers, knowledge experience, et al.
  • Pushing the envelope on deep learning by: (1) Defining problems and establishing metrics (2) Gathering training data at scale (3) Exploring model design and architecture (3) Exploring learning objectives and tasks.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of working experience in NLP/search related areas.
  • Eperience in applying deep learning, Advanced AI Techniques, RAG techniques and drive E2E AI product development.
  • Experience in building and shipping an AI product from scratch.
  • Passionate and self-motivated. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 9+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of working experience in NLP/search related areas.
  • Experience in search stack.
  • Solid problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
