The Experiences and Engines Campaign Operations Marketing Technologist role is built for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering, digital marketing, and large-scale execution. This position plays a pivotal role in driving Microsoft’s global marketing engine, transforming complex ideas into high-performing campaigns through technical expertise, platform mastery, and operational excellence.

In this role, you will help shape the next generation of Microsoft’s digital marketing systems. You will work hands-on with advanced marketing technologies, architect solutions that scale, and partner with teams across engineering, data, content, and campaign management to deliver seamless customer experiences. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Technical Implementation & Solution Design

  • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable marketing technology solutions, balancing constraints, performance, and long-term extensibility.
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize marketing workflows using Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS to support custom automations, integrations, data transformations, and email rendering needs.
  • Build and QA complex email templates and dynamic content modules across platforms using coding best practices and accessibility standards.

Platform Expertise & Administration

  • Support rollout, onboarding, and adoption of new marketing technology platforms, features, and releases—turning platform innovation into practical improvements in campaign execution.
  • Configure, enhance, and maintain marketing automation and content systems, including:
    • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) for content and experience delivery
    • Adobe Campaign Standard (ACS) for multi‑channel campaign activation
    • Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) or similar MAP/ESP solutions
  • Evaluate existing systems, identify gaps, form recommendations for enhancements, and translate business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements.

Campaign Enablement & Build Excellence

  • Serve as a consultant on campaign strategies offering thoughtful design and configuration scenarios—supporting dynamic personalization, segmentation logic, data schema mapping, and workflow automation.
  • Ensure every campaign includes proper tracking, measurability, instrumentation, and operational governance.

Collaboration, Leadership & Mentoring

  • Partner closely with engineering teams, campaign managers, data partners, and platform owners to align system capabilities with marketing needs.
  • Lead triage and planning sessions to break down technical requirements, surface dependencies, and guide delivery teams.
  • Train, mentor, and support marketing technologists and vendor teams on tools, templates, best practices, and scaling patterns.

Continuous Improvement & Technical Stewardship

  • Stay up to date on marketing technology trends, AI-driven automation capabilities, engineering practices, and industry standards.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline processes, reduce operational friction, and improve campaign production speed and quality.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, Engineering,
    • Or related field AND 2+ years of marketing operations, program management, project management, or related experience
    • Or equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Experience in B2B marketing—designing, building, and executing marketing campaigns; post‑sales relationship marketing a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with marketing automation systems (Adobe, SFMC, Marketo, or equivalent).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (index/match, xlookup, pivoting, data modeling).
  • Working proficiency with Python, C#, HTML/CSS, Java, JavaScript, or similar languages used to support marketing workflows, integrations, and email development.
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience with Adobe ecosystem technologies (ACS, AEM).
  • Experience building modular email templates, interactive components, and dynamic personalization in enterprise ESPs.
  • Familiarity with APIs, ETL processes, CDPs, or data pipelines supporting marketing systems.
  • Adobe ACS or AEM certification or equivalent platform credentials.


Marketing Technology IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year.
