Overview
Discover how your passions and interest in technology/STEM can evolve into a career in tech at Microsoft and beyond. This paid, four-week summer program offers an exciting opportunity to get valuable experience prior to starting college.
Discovery interns participate in a curriculum designed to introduce core computer science concepts, develop career readiness skills, and receive mentorship from Microsoft employees while gaining hands-on project experience.
Please note that Microsoft is unable to sponsor a work visa for this position due to the nature of the role.

Responsibilities
  • Learns core computer science concepts.
  • Gains hands-on project experience under the guidance of Microsoft employees.
  • Develops an understanding of Microsoft’s history, culture, and technologies.
  • Practices career readiness skills.
  • Receives mentorship from Microsoft employees.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • At least 16 years old at time of internship.
  • Available to work full-time onsite for four consecutive weeks (July 13-August 7, 2026).
  • High school senior graduating from high school prior to program start date and enrolling in a bachelor's degree program in fall 2026.
  • Live and/or attend high school within 50 miles of Redmond, Washington.
  • Completed pre-calculus, an equivalent, or 3 consecutive years of math by the start of the program.
  • Member of or participant in one of the following Microsoft-sponsored organizations:
    • College Success Foundation
    • Computing for All
    • Rainier Scholars
    • Technology Access Foundation
    • UW Math Science Upward Bound (UW STEMsub)
    • Washington MESA

The base pay rate for this internship is USD $26.00 per hour.

*Discovery interns are not eligible for healthcare benefits or a fitness club membership, but they have access to paid sick time (accrued at .03846 hour, per hour worked), paid federal holidays, software discounts, and a bus pass.
