Within CO+I, Datacenter Construction Delivery (DCD) is responsible for delivering datacenter capacity for Microsoft’s cloud business meeting all safety, quality, sustainability, schedule, and budget requirements. The Senior Construction Manager provides critical leadership, ownership and accountability for the team's deployment and delivery of large-scale, campus and/or regionally based delivery solutions to predictably deliver Datacenter capacity.

This role requires strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, ability to self-direct, background in data center design, engineering, controls, and operational requirements and an emphasis on the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) disciplines. This Senior Construction Manager will lead the effort in coordinating and managing the General Contractor MEP trades on major data center construction project. This person will work with Project team to ensure successful completion of all MEP trade work.

This role is located in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates should relocate and reside within 50 miles.

Responsibilities
  • Review Contract Documents, making suggestions/modifications as they relate to the GC and the AE

  • Manage MEP scope throughout duration of the project (from Groundbreaking through Commissioning and Turnover to Owner).

  • Assist Scheduling department with developing detailed CPM schedules for all MEP installation activities, including cost and resource loading.

  • Review, approve, negotiate and track key MEP contracts and work closely with equipment and commission team on a commission critical path plan

  • Monitor the installation and start-up of MEP systems and commissioning of project

  • Coordinate activities, materials procurement and other related activities with Project Director and GC

  • Communicate progress and prepare appropriate reports as needed

  • Represent Microsoft in regard to the MEP process at weekly Owner’s and contractors meetings

  • Supervise, develop and mentor project staff, if applicable

  • Lead and direct the 3-D BIM coordination process to resolve all conflicts prior to start of installations

  • Take overall responsibility for the performance of all MEP trades

  • Work directly for the Construction Program Director (onsite). This leader supports the strategic and tactical delivery of the Milwaukee data center projects within the portfolio.



Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Experience coordinating and managing the General Contractor MEP trades on major data center construction project to ensure successful completion of all MEP trade work.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years experience working on data center projects.

Construction Project Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
