The Customer Experience Architecture (CXA) organization leads the design of our AI-enabled integrated Customer Success and Support motions across CE&S and drives the implementation requirements across end-to-end customer experience architectures, improving the quality and experience KPIs across CE&S.
The CE&S Business Intelligence (BI) Team is responsible for delivering data-driven decision-making and self-serve analytics to optimize customer experience and support operations across Microsoft's assisted and self-service support surfaces. We build and manage data platforms and data flows, oversee data and measurement governance, develop Machine Learning (ML) models, manage support-critical data tools, and provide both core and business-specific analytics resources and guidance.

We are seeking a goal‑driven Senior Data Engineer (AI) with deep expertise in building scalable data products, semantic models, and AI‑ready datasets that power intelligent analytics across Microsoft’s support ecosystem. In this role, you will partner closely with engineering and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into reliable, high‑impact solutions. You will deliver clear insights, shape technical direction, and collaborate across product, program, and data engineering teams to enable data‑driven decision making.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop intelligent Data Agents within Microsoft Fabric to enable semantic query capabilities on structured datasets.
  • Orchestrate multi-agent workflows using AI Foundry and Copilot Studio for end to end data coverage and workflow integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop robust user stories, acceptance criteria, and orchestration requirements that align with business objectives
  • Integrate agentic solutions with enterprise data platforms to support conversational experiences and advanced orchestration patterns.
  • Evangelize agent development best practices, mentor peers on Fabric agent frameworks and semantic modeling, and contribute to internal communities.
  • Develop enterprise semantic models and metadata layers to support BI and AI-driven applications, ensuring scalability and high performance standards.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with security and privacy requirements.
  • Build automation frameworks to accelerate semantic model creation, agent development, and validation processes
  • Drive inclusion and security compliance in all engineering and automation initiatives.

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics, or related field AND 3+ years experience in data modeling, data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics, or related field AND 4+ years experience in data modeling, data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR equivalent experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise‑scale, data‑intensive environments, translating complex and ambiguous business needs into clear data requirements and solution designs.
  • Hands‑on experience with Azure data stack: Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse, Data Agents, Pipelines, Semantic Models, OneLake), Synapse, Data Factory. Core programming skills in SQL, Python, Spark.
  • Experience with Power BI modeling & DAX; RLS/OLS; performance optimization; certified dataset lifecycle. Data modeling mastery (dimensional/star schema, SCD, conformed dimensions, KPI standardization).
  • Experience with Data reliability engineering: CI/CD (Azure DevOps/GitHub), automated testing, monitoring/alerting, incident response, and cost management.
  • Experience with MCP‑based tool integration and modern generative models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic), plus familiarity with Azure AI Foundry and/or Copilot Studio for building and operating agentic solutions in enterprise environments, with strong grounding in security, compliance, and governance.


Data Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
