Microsoft’s Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft, from Azure to AI. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of hundreds of data centers, managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.
Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) team is responsible for the development and implementation of global strategies across our Datacenters (DCs).
The Process Improvement and efficiency (PI+E) team enables resource efficiency across DC Ops through Continuous Improvement focused program management and analysis. Efficiency is a significant focus of this team. We are looking for an efficiency PM to help enable this space.
The efficiency team quantifies operational impact by embedding standardized metrics like cost savings, headcount shifts, and utilization gains into the One DC Ops Lifecycle, ensuring visibility, accountability, and prioritization of high-value initiatives across datacenter operations.
Responsibilities
- Defines success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., objectives and key results [OKRs], key performance indicators [KPIs] such as quality and performance) for programs, solutions, services, or integrated systems with limited supervision. Works with partners and/or stakeholders (e.g., Engineering, Design) to ensure needed telemetry is developed with guidance. Understands and presents the return on investment.
- Contributes to the definition of program(s) goals and provides input to the prioritization for multiple features or functional areas (e.g., product, service, systems) they own. Translates the needs of their team into program goals and prioritized deliverables using data-focused analysis, in collaboration with others. Identifies risks and proposes mitigations. Uses data (e.g., telemetry, usage, net satisfaction, customer satisfaction) and tools (e.g., artificial intelligence, automation) to build more informed risk mitigation plans with minimal guidance.
- Utilize the project management frameworks (Continuous Improvement, DMAIC, and Change Management)
- Work across multiple stakeholder groups to gain requirements, provide status, and signoff of project deliverables
- Collaborate with management, engineering, and operations teams to define project specifications and procedures.
- Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including engineering, product, and operations—to define business requirements and integrate technical feasibility criteria into planning tools.
- Work to analyze large and fragmented data sets with the objective of recognizing patterns
- Quantify ROI for program and individual project components
- Define monitoring and telemetry requirements
- Facilitate training and enablement sessions or create training documentation/process and standards updates if required
- Develop required technical specifications and reports using tools like ADO, Power Platform, and Power BI
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ADO, Power Platform, and Power BI
- Experience using advanced Excel capabilities
- Experience creating exec ready slides
- Basic ETL experience
- Experience in IT project management, with a focus on process improvement with emphasis on data analysis
- Strong communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Basic Copilot creation experience
- Lean Six Sigma, PMP or PMI certification or agile certification preferred but not required
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale solutions in multi-platform environments.
- Microsoft Fabric or similar experience
Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
