WCX is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) organization, which is recognized as a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for Desktop as a Service (DaaS) for last 3 years. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who’s excited to explore new technologies, write elegant and robust code, and drive engineering excellence across the stack to join the team that builds key technologies for our service fundamental and Devops.
In this role, you’ll contribute to rapid, iterative releases and have the opportunity to innovate across multiple areas of our product, from infrastructure to reliability engineering and operations.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer in our team, you will get an amazing opportunity to contribute to both business and technology. You will be a key member of our engineering team, drive full end to end engineering cycle of critical scenario, collaborate with internal partner teams and plan, design, implement and manage the Devops and service operation with high quality,
In this role you will:
- Work across organizations, collaborating with internal partner teams such as Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Platform Engineering teams like AKS/App service and etc.
- Build and maintain secure, distributed, scalable, and resilient service infrastructure using modern technologies
- Define and implement CI/CD strategies using Azure DevOps, driving engineering efficiency through automation, testing, and deployment proven practices.
- Act as a mentor to junior engineers and interns, providing guidance on technical challenges. Share knowledge through design reviews, code walkthroughs, and internal presentations.
- Integrate AI capabilities into daily operations for predictive insights and automation.
- Establish and implement mature and efficient DevOps processes such as SDP (release), Livesite, buildout environment and tool chains for high service reliability and availability.
- Participate in On-Call and Site Reliability rotations, ensuring live-site health and driving engineered solutions.
- Drive technical clarity and alignment across multiple teams and organizations, influencing strategy, mentoring peers, and ensuring delivery of high-impact, customer-focused results.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping apps and/or services.
- Excellent technical design skills and proven ability to drive large scale system designs for commercial projects or products.
- Experience and involvement with DevOps.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the
- Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Travel: Occasional travel (0% to 25%) may be required as part of this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping apps and/or services.
- Ambitious, self-motivated.
- Agile, can-do attitude and great at dealing with ambiguity.
- Strong coding, debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming language paradigms.
- Keen interest in mentoring early in career engineers.
- Ability to generate clarity in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to quickly ramp up, understand complex problems, and create solutions across many products.
- Great communication skills to collaborate cross-group and work effectively within the team.
- Expertise in developing large scale services.
- Experience monitoring system performance, diagnosing and resolving issues, and implementing improvements to ensure reliability and a seamless user experience.
- Exposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD, automated testing, deployment).
