Microsoft Azure has been a leader in developing and adopting confidential computing technology, which provides stronger security protections for cloud workloads. The long‑term vision is to evolve Azure Cloud into Azure Confidential Cloud and help the industry transition from computing in the clear to computing confidentially across both cloud and edge environments. Azure Compute delivers the underlying infrastructure powering Microsoft’s hyperscale cloud. The team builds and operates services that manage virtual machines, containers, bare‑metal hosts, efficiency systems, hardware platform innovation, and reliability at planetary scale, anchoring Microsoft’s cloud strategy.
As a Software Engineer, you will develop, test, deploy, and support features that advance confidential compute capabilities. Your work will help Azure customers achieve high levels of privacy and security by protecting data in use, complementing existing protections for data at rest and in transit. This role offers opportunities to learn about cloud infrastructure, operating services at scale, and technologies that enhance cloud security.
You will collaborate with teams across Microsoft and engage with the broader industry community to advance confidential computing. The position provides exposure to diverse engineering areas and the chance to contribute to innovations that strengthen customer trust and cloud reliability.

Responsibilities
- Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
- Supports identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight.
- With guidance, learns to create and implement code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable.
- Assists and learns about breaking down work items into tasks and provides estimation.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook.
- Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Proven programming experience in at least one language such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and object‑oriented design.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
