Overview

The team’s charter is to drive GitHub growth while reducing unit cost of capacity, optimizing per‑user economics, and ensuring cloud services achieve both revenue and gross margin growth. As the Group Finance Manager, you will also support long‑term strategic initiatives and contribute to competitive analysis to help keep GitHub well‑positioned in the market — all while enhancing transparency into capacity investments and supporting shareholder interests. We are looking for a Finance leader who will guide teams that support our cloud product margins and strategy, defining key areas for margin expansion for GitHub.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CoreAI, Azure, and GitHub Engineering leadership teams to deliver high‑quality margins for GitHub.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and build collaborative working relationships with the GitHub leadership team.
  • Lead RoB (close, forecast, and LRP) planning cycles for GitHub in partnership with GitHub and CoreAI Engineering leadership teams.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of growth and transformation initiatives to support long‑term margin goals for the business.
  • Provide constructive perspective by thoughtfully challenging business partners and existing approaches to support improved business outcomes for Microsoft.
  • Lead and support a high‑performing teamFoster a diverse and inclusive culture centered on empathy, trust, and collaboration to ensure that each team member can thrive and contribute their best work.
  • Drive structured people rhythms around career development, performance check‑ins, and slate planning.
  • Support a culture of compliance within the business and strengthen partnership and effectiveness with business teams.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 12+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience managing direct reports.
  • 3+ years experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
  • 3+ years work experience in matrix-based organization.
  • 3+ years work experience in the technology or software industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in analytical modeling and strategic thinking.
  • Proficiency in data and financial modeling, with the ability to work effectively with financial systems.
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis clearly and succinctly to senior audiences.
  • Demonstrated results delivering high‑value, high‑impact projects through both individual contributions and collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
  • Inclusive and collaborative partnering skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority and offer constructive feedback when needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines, prioritize effectively, and apply resourcefulness to deliver results.


Financial Analysis M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
