The PRIMO organization within EngOps is responsible for building great products to enable Customer Success at scale. This Software Engineer I position is targeted for someone who is: thrilled about online services, cloud computing, and user experience, loves to work in an agile development team, embraces and solves new technological challenges, deeply passionate about building effective software and continuously improving the development process, independent thinker and working collaboratively in a team environment. As part of this role, you will collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key customer solutions and the technology to support them.
You will have ample opportunities to participate in all stages of our engineering lifecycle - from initial research and discovery, quick iteration on promising concepts, solution prototyping, and development, all the way through successful service rollout and Live Site support.

Responsibilities
- Leads by example within the team to produce extensible, maintainable, well-tested, secure, and performant code that adheres to design specifications.
- Optimize, debug, and refactor code to improve performance and maintainability, and effectiveness.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook
- Apply metrics to drive the quality and stability of code, as well as appropriate coding patterns and best practices.
- Identifies dependencies and incorporates them into the development of design documents for a product, application, service or platform. Actively identify other teams and technologies to leverage, how they interact, and where their own system or team can support others.
- Leads discussions for product/service architecture and develop complex design specifications.
- Review code to assure compliance to quality standards, is reliable and accurate, and is appropriate for the scale of the product/solution area.
- Mentor junior engineers
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 4–6+ years engineering experience,
- OR Master’s degree with proven hands‑on coding experience,
- OR equivalent experience building large‑scale or AI‑driven systems.
- AI‑Relevant Technical ExpertiseStrong proficiency in Python, C++, C#, Java, and JavaScript, enabling development across AI model pipelines, services, and tooling.
- Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns, directly supporting efficient training, inference, and optimization workflows.
- Demonstrated experience applying object‑oriented and modular design principles to machine‑learning or AI‑powered systems.
- Experience building and operating distributed systems, including services that support model hosting, vector search, data processing pipelines, or multi‑node compute.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, including scalable compute, storage, and service integration commonly used in AI workloads.
- AI Application & Platform Development(Preferred)
- Experience with JavaScript/Node.js/React, enabling integration of AI capabilities into full‑stack applications, user experiences, or agentic interfaces.
- Familiarity with building or contributing to platform components (e.g., APIs, microservices, CI/CD pipelines) that support AI model deployment or experimentation.
- Engineering PracticesSkilled in agile methodologies, iterative delivery, and modern software development workflows.Hands‑on experience with tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, and related CI/CD systems supporting rapid development and experimentation cycles.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
