Creating these devices involves a close partnership between hardware and software engineers, designers, and manufacturing. You will partner with some of the top minds in the industry and build executive level relationships among key internal and external stakeholders to help drive the successful delivery of our next generation of devices with a direct focus on the end-to-end Software experience. We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Program Manager to join the Surface Team at Microsoft. This person will be responsible for leading the definition and development of technology areas across Software and Hardware, delivering solutions across the Surface portfolio. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing Product Manager leads and shipping multiple products, a disciplined approach to product development of computing devices, as well as excellent cross-organizational and project management skills. Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Write detailed functional or requirement specifications that enable product engineering to execute.
  • Define the factory solution requirements through cross-team collaboration.
  • Define and communicate manufacturing related schedules and manage complex dependencies.
  • Support pre-factory readiness, NPI and volume ramp activities
  • Interface closely with the community within Surface as well as externally
  • Generate insights and top-level scorecards for our engineering systems.
  • Support meetings across disciplines from engineering to research and design
  • Support Surface development at the factory to ensure that all Surface products are being manufactured to specification.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years working as a technical program manager or other engineering discipline defining, driving, and shipping products or services through multiple ship cycles
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese, with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with one or more of the following: WiFi, 5G and embedded controllers in computing platforms.
  • Strong background in RF design, testing, or validation to support effective RF software integration.
  • Strong electrical and or mechanical background with a passion for shipping products
  • Detailed understanding of high volume manufacturing processes and best practices to fine solution requirements
  • Basic understanding of both test station and DUT failure and issue root cause analysis
  • Been responsible responsibility for the creation of functional specifications, project schedules and building plans to deliver
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple disciplines and functions (PM, Test, Hardware Engineers, etc.)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to prioritize workloads
  • Demonstrated track record of leading product teams to ship
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills are a must

Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: - Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with RF/Antenna laboratories and test equipment such as signal generators, network analyzers (NA), spectrum analyzers (SA), ETS-Lindgren OTA systems, and probe stations.
  • Familiarity with EM simulation tools (IE3D, HFSS, ADS) and understanding of antenna, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 6, UWB, and millimeter-wave module design principles.
  • Understanding of adjacent component domains such as touch or touchpad modules is a plus.
