Overview

The Consumer Integrated Marketing team at Microsoft is seeking an inspiring, forward-thinking Creative Director with extensive experience working on high-profile brands, either agency-side or inhouse. The Creative Director will be responsible for ideating, leading and evolving Microsoft’s digital creative experiences with a focus on breakthrough storytelling, tied to a red thread into the strategic insight.

The Creative Director is responsible for being the thought leader of modern, digital-first storytelling, and interpreting those into creative marketing. This role will focus on establishing the underlying creative idea for these moments, and partner with cross-functional creative and channel leads, as well as external creative agencies, to bring it to life.

This role supports Microsoft Copilot (AI companion), Surface devices, M365 Copilot, Windows, Edge and Bing, across launch moments and marketing beats across our Owned & Operated channels. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work across multiple projects at once, with collaboration across teams, and the ability to champion the creative to senior leadership

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design OR Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design, copywriting, technical writing, writing (e.g. for marketing, advertising, e-commerce), brand design, or brand marketing OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience as a leader in the creative space, managing team(s), and operating as a Group, or Executive Creative Director.
  • 5+ years leading concurrent, multi‑workstream 360° brand campaigns for large product portfolios, owning the creative ideation /platform/campaign architecture.
  • 5+ years experience storytelling: an innate understanding of the importance of narrative, across everything from internal presentations to compelling consumer-facing creative.
  • 3+ years experience with AI tools and the role they can play in the creative process
  • A portfolio showcasing impactful creative marketing with an orientation towards organic content.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Master's Degree in in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design OR Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 11+ years experience working in product or service design OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience of storytelling/narrative structure, pacing, graphics, music, shot selection and all key aspects of audio-visual content.
  • 8+ years experience developing unifying brand narratives and creative platforms, and translating those platforms into digital creative executions.
  • 3+ years experience with Microsoft’s consumer-facing products and services
  • 8+ years experience in a fast-paced and demanding environment, possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, and demonstrate judgment in the face of ambiguity.
Content Design IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
