Are you excited about solving complex problems in the generative AI space? Do you want to build a platform in Word that Large Language Models (LLMs) based features from Word, other Microsoft applications and even 3rd party developers can leverage? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!


We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager to join the team with a growth mindset, integrity, and effective collaboration skills. Successful candidates will have technical program management experience in:

  • Working with engineers and applied scientists on generative AI and/or Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Leading complex or large-scale projects with cross-functional and geo-distributed teams
  • Setting program strategy, roadmaps, delivery time and method
  • Managing delivery, execution, and release processes
  • Solving technical and architectural issues, key dependencies and requirements
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across organizations and roles
  • Diving into products to understand and address issues and deliver outcomes

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 3+ years in-depth knowledge and prior experience with generative AI and NLP products.

Other Requirements:


Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.

  • Technical thought leadership: Collaborates with stakeholders to develop strategies and plans for addressing complex technical topics.
  • Voice of the customer: Defines user centric objectives and key results, guiding the technical investment with business goals and customer needs.
  • Cross organizational alignment: Works with immediate team, stakeholders, and teams across organizations, roles, and geographies to align on shared goals.
  • Backlog, dependencies, and requirements: Collaborates with product management and engineering, maintaining prioritized backlog and driving accountability of cross team dependencies and requirements.
  • Roadmap and delivery: Drives overall program and project roadmap, schedule, release, and adjustments.
