Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) plays a critical role in ensuring that Windows remains secure, reliable, and productive for over a billion devices worldwide. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with telemetry, data analysis, and visualization.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) including production ownership.
  • Knowledge of update servicing, security fundamentals, or large-scale system design.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Exposure to AI-powered development tools or building intelligent features.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain code for Windows servicing components and update orchestration services.
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver end-to-end solutions that meet reliability, security, and performance goals.
  • Implement automated testing and telemetry to ensure quality and diagnose issues at scale.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical problems impacting billions of devices.
  • Contribute to operational excellence by supporting live service operations and improving monitoring and observability.
  • Apply modern engineering practices, including continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), to accelerate delivery.
  • Explore and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., AI-powered tools) to enhance servicing efficiency and customer experience.
