As a Principal Engineer Manager, you will lead a team of engineers focused on building and supporting workflows for Azure servers. This includes working on both Windows and Linux platforms and developing software in Rust for Azure Boost. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, Rust, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience in technical design, problem-solving, and debugging.
- 1+ years of experience with architecting large system and seeing them to production
Other Qualifications:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
- OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C,Rust, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,
- OR Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years people management experience.

Operating System and Programming Expertise
- 1+ years of experience with Linux or Windows operating system internals and kernel development.
- 1+ years of experience with Rust programming language.

System Architecture and Development Skills
- 1+ years of experience in large-scale system architecture, design, development, testing, and release, including:
- Cloud infrastructure
- System-level application design and development
- Performance tuning
- Telemetry design and analysis

Responsibilities
- Lead technically, raise standards, and maintain a results-driven culture.
- Leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
- Optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
- Collaborate within Azure to develop platforms for managing and monitoring at scale.
- Coach and develop engineers at all levels through knowledge sharing and continuous learning
- Serve as a role model for an open, honest, and inclusive approach to problem-solving.
- Acts as an expert for Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and monitors other engineers across product lines, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
