Overview

The Consumer Integrated Marketing team at Microsoft is seeking a Group Creative Director to work across our portfolio of brands, spanning Copilot (AI companion), Windows, Surface devices, M365 and Edge. This senior-level position will inspire and lead cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams to deliver breakthrough creative across our ecosystem of channels. This role is pivotal in elevating the storytelling and creative of our marketing and will guide the work from finding the red-thread from insights, the creative expression, and execution across channels.

You will be naturally curious, an exceptional strategic thinker, with an innate ability to deliver creative that has purpose and resonance. This role requires the ability to manage multiple creative projects at different stages of the production process, and the ability to convey complex creative ideas to a broad group of stakeholder teams, including senior leadership.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 7+ years experience working in product or service design OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 9+ years experience working in product or service design OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
  • 7+ years experience as a leader in the creative space, managing team(s), and operating as a Group, or Executive Creative Director.

  • 7+ years experience in online consumption behavior, storytelling trends, and algorithmic differences across social networks.
  • 7+ years experience storytelling: an innate understanding of the importance of narrative, across everything from internal presentations to compelling consumer-facing creative.
  • 3+ years experience with AI tools and the role they can play in the creative process
  • 5+ years leading concurrent, multi‑workstream 360° brand campaigns for large product portfolios, owning the creative ideation /platform/campaign architecture.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 12+ years experience working in product or service design OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 15+ years experience working in product or service design OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
  • 8+ years experience shipping products, services, or games and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.
  • 8+ years experience developing unifying brand narratives and creative platforms, and translating those platforms into digital creative executions.
  • 8+ years experience of storytelling/narrative structure, pacing, graphics, music, shot selection and all key aspects of audio-visual content.

Product Design IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the inhouse Creative Directors, Design Directors, artists and editors, as well as external production houses.
  • Partner closely with the Advertising team and Commercial Integrated Marketing teams to drive cohesion across the business
  • Work closely with the channel teams, integrated marketing, and comms teams to deliver meaningful creative for each channel activation.
  • Interpret quant and qual insights from a variety of sources, including close partnership with Creative Strategists to identify the underlying red-thread that will inform the creative territories and platform.
  • Articulate the strategic and creative approach to a variety of stakeholders, championing the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ for our marketing approach.
