Microsoft Azure Storage is a globally distributed, highly scalable, and universally accessible cloud storage platform. The Azure Storage organization owns the complete storage stack that supports modern artificial intelligence workloads, with a focus on achieving sub-millisecond latencies.
The Azure Storage Deployment team builds reliable and high-performance orchestrators that deploy storage services across all regions worldwide. These systems are critical to ensuring consistent service availability and performance at hyperscale.
We are seeking a Software Engineer who is enthusiastic about distributed storage and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role involves solving challenges related to durability, availability, and concurrency while serving millions of requests per second. You will have the opportunity to make impactful contributions daily as part of a team building hyperscale storage systems. This is a United States–based position; while remote work is possible, relocation is not applicable or provided for this role.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline
- OR equivalent experience
- Proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- Experience working in distributed cloud infrastructure development.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ years(s) of proficiency in technical design, problem solving and debugging skills.
- 1+ years(s) of demonstrated proficiency in one of the following: Distributed Systems, Control Systems, Algorithms and Data Structures for High Availability Systems Design, and designing systems at scale
- 1+ year(s) of demonstrated technical, cross-group collaboration and communication skills.
Software Engineering IC2: The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.

Responsibilities
- Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
- Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
- Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
- Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
- Uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies to improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
