Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than one hundred datacenters and one million servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts, who work tirelessly to support digital services for more than one billion customers and twenty million businesses in over ninety countries worldwide.

Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) team is responsible for improving overall availability and efficiency for Microsoft’s cloud business. We have multiple teams focused on both Microsoft and Lessor datacenter performance and all aspects of datacenter utilization effectiveness that includes power, water and labor.

We are seeking a Fuel Planning TPM to support the Operational Supply Chain across datacenters globally. This role will own developing a demand plan for fuel to support existing and new Microsoft data centers. This role will need to have experience in oil and gas in order to understand the requirements and build a demand plan for fuel planning and partner with DC operations and procurement to utilize the planning process to inform and drive business decisions for data center availability.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage a fuel demand plan by analyzing current data center consumption and future growth to ensure cost-effective and reliable fuel sourcing, optimized logistics, and the implementation of strategic plan.
  • You will drive strategic alignment among cross-functional stakeholders to redesign our Global Fuel Program from initiation to delivery. You’ll also use subject matter expertise to drive the definition and tracking of success criteria and performance metrics.

  • You will partner with Procurement to identify and negotiate contracts with reliable global fuel suppliers to secure competitive pricing, volumes and the right service level agreements.

  • You will develop and implement a central renewable fuel transition strategy for data centers by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure operational and technical readiness. You will also develop and manage sustainability metrics related to fuel usage.

  • You’ll also use your subject matter expertise to promote the program and gain buy-in from stakeholders, partners, and customers.

  • You’ll communicate the program status and risk to stakeholders, and hold them accountable to following the schedule. You’ll also drive collaboration between teams to ensure program processes are executed efficiently.

  • You will provide deep expertise to conduct cost-benefit analyses and evaluate success metrics, while optimizing the use of data analytics to derive insights and identify risks and opportunities. You’ll also drive and influence change management processes in the organization.
