Overview

As a Visual Designer - Social Grpahics in Microsoft’s Design Studio for the Engines & Experiences (E&E) organization, you will create compelling visual content that drives engagement across social platforms and marketing channels. You’ll bring a strong foundation in graphic design, brand storytelling, and digital craft—paired with a curiosity and fluency in emerging AI tools that accelerate creativity and scale. This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in fast-paced environments, has a sharp eye for detail, and is passionate about creating work that is both beautiful and strategic. You’ll collaborate closely with creative leads, writers, and producers to deliver high-quality visuals that support product launches, campaigns, and social storytelling.

Job Location: The primary location for this position is Redmond, WA. Additionally, there are three other locations where this role may be based. Candidates who do not reside in one of these four areas will be relocated to Redmond.

This role is flexible in that you can work up to 50% from home.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Design, Fine Arts, Human Computer Interaction, Visual Communications or related art field AND 1+ year(s) experience in art design or a related art field working on computer games or entertainment OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in visual/graphic design, preferably in marketing or social content creation.
  • 1+ year of experience in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva, or similar. A portfolio showcasing a range of visual work across social, campaign, and digital formats.
  • A portfolio showcasing production-ready motion work for User Interface (UI), demos, or product storytelling.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Design, Fine Arts, Human Computer Interaction, Visual Communications or related art field AND 5+ years experience in art design or a related art field working on computer games or entertainment OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience using related software and packages (e.g., Maya, 3DS Max, Photoshop/Adobe suite, Mental Ray, Substance Designer/Painter/Zbrush, SideFX Houdini, After Effects, Unity, Softimage) OR equivalent software packages.
  • 2+ years experience years experience shipping 1 project or product end to end.
  • 2+ years experience creating content for social platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube).
  • 2+ years experience with AI tools for image generation, layout, or content creation—or a strong desire to learn and apply them.
Art IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
