Overview

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Global Project Controls (GPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help fill the critical role of Senior Integrated Planner - AMERS Lease.

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Washington DC. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates should relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 50% from home.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • Deep knowledge of Primavera P6, schedule health analysis tools, and risk schedule analysis.
  • Extensive experience with CPM (Critical Path Method) scheduling methodology.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • 7+ years of experience in design and construction project management.
  • 7+ years of experience planning medium-sized capital projects ($50MM - $200MM+) in construction, oil, gas, chemicals, or related process industries.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 5+ years of experience in project planning/scheduling using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Experience in datacenter design and construction.
  • Proven track record of delivering medium-to-large scale construction projects on time and to client satisfaction.
  • Ability to analyze EPC plans and schedules, identifying trends, issues, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to present data and insights from detailed to executive-level depending on the audience.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

As an individual contributor you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, execution, and delivery of large-scale datacenter construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in datacenter design, procurement, and construction, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and to the satisfaction of clients. The role requires exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

Planning

  • Develop and oversee continuous improvement of detailed project plans, including timelines, and resource requirements, for large-scale datacenter construction projects.
  • Monitor project risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential issues.
  • Work with clients to understand their needs and ensure project outcomes meet their expectations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Project Management

  • Proactively manage multiple project schedules simultaneously, ensuring that each project meets its objectives and is delivered on time.
  • Continuously improve planning processes and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide regular project updates to senior management and other stakeholders.
