Overview

Microsoft’s Monetization and Business Planning team is at the heart of transforming products and services into value for customers and partners while driving growth for Microsoft. A critical part of this organization is the Operational Excellence and Transformation (OET) team that helps to measure and improve the performance of product launch delivery to our end customers, across the company’s broad portfolio, such as Azure, Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Defender, Azure, Power Platform, Windows, and our artificial intelligence services such as Copilot. This team also regularly identifies additional processes within the organization and helps to redefine/optimize these processes to create additional impact. We are looking for a Senior Operations Business Program Manager to help with project management, communication, and prioritization.

In this role you will work with OET leadership, the continuous improvement and process excellence teams and partner organizations to drive project management across the portfolio to ensure optimal prioritization of projects, thoughtful and effective project planning and appropriate marshalling of resources to maximize impact. You will also help drive clear communication around the impact of these efforts to senior leadership and partner teams. Additionally, you will collaborate with engineering, product business planners, finance, product marketing, and senior leaders to identify, design, build, and operationalize initiatives to drive improved scale, agility, and accuracy in these launch processes.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience in streamlining product, pricing and/or promotion launch processes

    • OR experience managing improvement efforts as a consultant or experience managing a portfolio of projects including ongoing prioritization.

Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 12+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to thrive and drive clarity in ambiguous situations, with adaptability and growth mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability as a project manager who can prioritize multiple activities to deliver on project scope and schedule.
  • Structured thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective analytic skills and ability to substantiate claims with compelling evidence.
  • Written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Business Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive portfolio management across range of OET projects to create high impact quickly and optimizat balance across competing priorities.
  • Measure the success of the improvements you make to drive more investment and scale impact; translate these measurements into compelling narratives that create a clear shared understanding of the impact.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in product, packaging, and promotion launch processes as well as development of new processes to help drive improvement within organization.
  • Work across engineering, business planning, and operations executive teams to clearly communicate improvement ideas and significant business impact, and obtain buy-in.
  • Drive the building and operationalization of improvement initiatives through pragmatic implementation planning and thoughtful stakeholder engagement.
  • Project manage workstreams to completion with predictability, transparency, and clarity.
  • Manage teams of stakeholders from different organizations towards a common goal and timeline.
  • Execute change management to land changes and drive adoption.
  • Continuously listen and learn to surface additional high-impact workstreams.
