This team plays a crucial role in supporting Microsoft 365 and the Experiences + Devices group (E+D), both of which are central to the Company's mission to empower individuals and organizations to achieve more. Our objective is to foster a data-informed culture by equipping the Experiences + Devices group with actionable insights to guide their decisions. This initiative represents a significant opportunity to deliver impactful information that will improve operational efficiency, drive empowerment, and support Microsoft’s success in the evolving AI landscape.
We are looking for a Data Scientist II, who is ready to drive growth across Microsoft 365 and Copilot. You will assist in creating structured reporting systems as well deep dive into analyses to understand user experience and behaviors to generate hypotheses to drive growth and see them through as experiments that drive impact. This role is ideal for someone who likes to dive into ambiguity and deliver impactful results.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) or consulting experience
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience formulating a roadmap of project activity that leads to measurable improvement in business performance metrics over time.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Responsibilities
- Collaborates with end customer and Microsoft internal cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs.
- Influences stakeholders to make solution improvements that yield business value by effectively making compelling cases through storytelling, visualizations, and other influencing tools.
- Acquires data necessary for successful completion of the project plan.
- Develops useable data sets for modeling purposes.
