Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. ​​Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers and insights from their data through data visualization.​

​​The Power BI self-service team's mission is to democratize data visualization and analytics, making it accessible and intuitive for everyone, regardless of their experience in data science. Leveraging LLM is a pivotal tool in this mission, and we aim to provide a seamless and engaging user experience across the Power BI Desktop application and powerbi.com. Our goal is to simplify the analytics journey, enabling users to derive insights effortlessly, and to foster an environment where data-driven decision-making becomes second nature to all.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• ​​​​Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  
• 4+ years of experience with creating responsive and accessible UI using TypeScript, Angular, RxJs, or equivalent
  
• 4+ years of backend development experience (designing and working with APIs, databases, etc.)
  
• 1+ year of experience mentoring lower-level engineers and performing collaborative technical reviews ​ ​

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• ​​Experience with LLMs and AI assisted developer tools
  
• Experience with development of Business Intelligence and analytics products​

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $114,400 - CAD $203,900 per year.
