Overview

We are looking for our next director of communications for Microsoft France. Reporting to the head of communications for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), this role will lead communications for the country, focused on positioning Microsoft as the most innovative and trusted company in the market and strengthening Microsoft’s reputation locally. The successful candidate will lead a small team of communications professionals, work closely with the Microsoft France executive team, and be a key strategic counsel for the president of Microsoft France on public relations, issues and reputation management, and consult on executive and employee communications. They will collaborate closely with peers globally and be part of the EMEA communications leadership team.

Qualifications

Required: • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or public affairs, with leadership experience. • Strong people management skills, with experience leading high-performing teams. • Experience working with senior leaders, with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence and prioritise for maximum impact. • Deep knowledge of the French media landscape. • Demonstrated experience in issues and reputation management. • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed, and dynamic environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English. Preferred: • Experience in multi-national corporations operating in complex regulatory environments. • Working in communications in technology or a closely related industry.

Responsibilities

: Leadership: • Develop, drive, and execute the integrated communications strategy for Microsoft France, aligned to global priorities and shaped for the local business environment. • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Microsoft France leadership team, providing direction on messaging, positioning, and external-facing activities. • Lead a team of communications professionals, building a team culture that reflects Microsoft’s values, creating clarity, generating energy, and delivering success. • Actively contribute to the EMEA Communications Leadership team and collaborate with global colleagues. External stakeholder management: • Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier French media, influencers, and key stakeholders. • Serve as a corporate spokesperson and partnering closely to coach a strong group of media spokespeople in the business. • Drive perception-shifting stories in traditional and non-traditional media, focusing on Microsoft’s leadership in AI, cloud, security and sustainability. • Manage effective crisis and issues management when required. Storytelling: • Create compelling stories that highlight Microsoft’s impact on customers, industries, and society in France, substantiated by business outcomes and societal impact. • Enhance thought leadership to position Microsoft as a trusted partner for innovation and digital transformation. • Orchestrate communications for major events, announcements, and executive engagements. • Provide strategic guidance and support to the employee and executive comms team to ensure a comprehensive and aligned view. Operational Excellence: • Build a culture of continuous innovation with the embrace of AI tools that enhance the communications function. • Oversee agency and budget management, ensuring effective use of resources. • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of communications activities, using insights to continuously improve. • Ensure compliance with Microsoft’s standards, policies, and ethical guidelines.
