We are seeking a dynamic Finance Manager to meaningfully contribute to demand signal alignment, server fleet health, and server supply planning. We partner closely with Microsoft Cloud Planning, Azure Engineering, and many Microsoft Finance Teams. This role and team plays a critical role in connecting dots across Microsoft to ensure we deliver success to our customers and shareholders at the same time.

Our Demand and Capacity Finance Team is chartered to match server demand to server supply, analyze fleet utilization health, and identify optimization levers that contribute to customer and business success. These efforts contribute to ensuring cloud services achieve revenue, margin, and profit growth. All while enhancing transparency into Cloud Infrastructure investments and safeguarding shareholder interest.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of advanced Excel modeling experience used for forecasting/planning
  • 2+ years of FP&A experience
  • 2+ years creating executive-level presentations that translate complex financial analysis into clear business narrative

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • MBA preferred.
    Demonstrated ability to form and influence cross-functional partnerships to deliver high-value projects.
  • Proven data and financial modeling capabilities and ability to work with financial systems.
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis in a simple and clear way in Executive forums (verbal or written).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with results in high value/high-impact projects.
    Self-starter who delivers valuable decision-making support in ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to influence others without direct authority and appropriately push back when required.
  • Ability to work across multiple altitudes, from strategic/high-level projects to detailed analysis.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines, quickly prioritize for impact and the resourcefulness to deliver.
  • Advanced understanding of the technology industry, particularly commercial public and private cloud services, business models and economics.

Financial Analysis IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,800 - $151,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,800 - $168,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze Azure server fleet health across Azure workloads, identify improvement areas, and influence fleet to achieve target health utilization. Assess both peak and mean utilization. Analyze multi-bottleneck resource consumption for storage workloads and identify demand shaping scenarios to allow for improved server resource utilization.
  • Extend server demand signal planning horizon to contribute to effective long-term hardware planning. Build replacement capacity scenario analysis as needed to influence optimal decommission planning.
  • Analyze drivers for monthly Azure server rack plan for changes. Ensure rack plan fidelity and reasonableness. Partner with Azure Engineering Group and Workload Owners to validate changes and ensure proper server resource allocation.
  • Analysis and modeling for strategic projects, new responsibilities, or ad hoc needs to unlock breadth of impact across team and partners.
