Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python; OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience.
  • Experience leading engineering teams in the design, implementation, and operation of large-scale, distributed platforms or services.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements for this role, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in development and design at scale, especially for cloud-based or SaaS platforms.
  • Experience operating in an Agile environment.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Experience with platform reliability, performance optimization, and cost management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach a team of engineering managers and engineers to build and operate scalable, reliable backend platform services for F&O.
  • Architect, design, and implement services for scale, throughput, durability, and low latency, ensuring high availability and performance for enterprise customers.
  • Drive innovation in service deployment and maintenance, automating processes to maximize reliability and minimize manual intervention.
  • Partner with product management, design, user research, and marketing to deliver impactful solutions that align with business priorities and customer needs.
  • Define requirements, KPIs, priorities, and planning for engineering deliverables, ensuring alignment with growth objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership for identifying dependencies, developing design documents, and optimizing code for maintainability and ROI.
  • Foster a Live Site culture, ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with teams across Microsoft (e.g., Power Platform, Dataverse, Azure) to drive platform growth and innovation.
  • Mentor and develop talent, building an inclusive and high-performing team culture.
