The Surface team builds powerful devices that empower individuals and organizations. We’re designing the next generation of Surface products, including future Copilot+ PCs, and we would like you to join us.
We’re hiring for a Senior Display Engineer in Redmond, WA, focused on developing world class display experiences. You’ll define user experience and related display and system architecture, drive technology development through mass production, troubleshoot system-level issues, and conduct root-cause analysis of display failures. This on site role involves close collaboration with 3rd party hardware and software suppliers and cross-functional teams across Microsoft.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience
- OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years’ experience with display technologies, color processing, color science and display image quality.
- 3+ years’ experience coding and debugging in C, C++ and/or C#, in Windows platform and/or embedded firmware development.
- Demostrated familarity with display integration concepts, including powering, TCON and LED-driving.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in display interface technologies (I2C, SPI, eDP, MIPI DSI).
- Experience in display system integration in consumer electronics industry, especially graphics pipeline and FW/SW integration.
- Experience in display electrical and optical design.
Electrical Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- Bring user experience centric thinking to the device design process including specifications, manufacturing testing, feature design and data analysis.
- Identify product level display experience needs, gaps and risks and define features and algorithms, including SW/HW integration and software components, together with Program Management, to meet the requirements.
- Test and debug display subsystem features spanning from Windows operating system all the way to display Timing Controller and proactively investigate, repro and collaborate with partners on solutions.
- Work on new devices at various stages of hardware development including proto-type hardware and proof of concept development.
