Overview

Microsoft’s United Nations and International Organisations team works with the multilateral system on how technology can help solve global challenges, applying expertise, collaborating with partners, and driving multistakeholder action.

As a Director in Paris, you will develop our engagement in a city that is an important centre of multilateralism, and home to a number of important international organisations. You will develop and implement strategies to engage policy makers, and establish partnerships with stakeholders from governments, civil society and the private sector. You will work collaboratively with teams from across Microsoft, facilitating others in their engagement, and delivering a real contribution to the global agenda. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your understanding of global policy, develop your advocacy and communications skills, and engage with a wide range of partners within and beyond Microsoft.

Working closely with subject matter experts across Microsoft, you will cover a range of policy issues, supporting economic policy, AI governance, competition policy and environmental sustainability, as well as engaging on technology policy initiatives and projects relating to data governance and privacy, digital security, digital safety, and responsible AI.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, or related field AND relevant in depth experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, or government OR relevant in depth experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, or government.
  • This role requires proficiency in written, reading, and conversational English & French as all business operations as well as customer communications are conducted in English.

Responsibilities

Strategy/Program Management - You will manage Microsoft’s engagement with Paris-based international organisations, managing the company’s engagement on priority issues, strategies, and/or programs. You will also contribute to, and develop, Microsoft’s policy agenda and advocacy strategies for top priorities, creating and managing timelines, budgets, and plans. You will develop and implement strategies for engaging with external partners to reflect Microsoft's policy agenda in key areas.

External Relationships – You will build and maintain a strong network and coalition with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders (e.g., industry organisations, think tanks, academics, businesses, civil society) to advance Microsoft's objectives. You will build strategic relationships that position Microsoft as a key trusted partner for the same stakeholders.

External Communication - You will contribute to the team’s communication framework and messaging in partnership with the Communications team for Microsoft. You will participate in internal and external events and be active with driving engagement on key issues. You will support executive engagement and participation in international events.

Internal Collaboration - You will act as a project lead across country and team lines. You will collaborate with and support teammates and other internal stakeholders across Microsoft, including by advising on public policy, geopolitical topics and/or cultural context.
