Are you excited about the possibility of working on the largest Cloud Storage service in the world? Azure Storage team is chartered with building, managing and running the Persistent Cloud Storage for Microsoft Azure Cloud. Azure Storage consists of a Storage Platform which currently powers five different storage services – Blob Storage, Table Storage (NoSQL Key Value store), Queue Storage, Data Lake Storage, File Storage and Disk Storage. We are one of the foundational services in the Azure Cloud. The service hosts data from some of the largest companies in the world plus supports all of Microsoft’s largest online businesses including Xbox, Teams and Bing and has scaled to store exabytes of customer data with the roadmap looking even better in terms of growth.
The Microsoft Azure Storage team is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer - Azure Storage with solid design, coding, and testing skills, to develop strategy for and implement validation infrastructure services, and automate validation of Azure's massive, distributed storage system. We value passion for scalable storage, distributed systems, and cloud services. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in data structures and algorithms, along with strong debugging, testing, and analytical abilities. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in testing systems at a large scale with various testing techniques including: unit, integration, end-to-end, fault injection, performance, scale, and long-haul testing.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
- OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,
- OR Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ year(s) of QA life cycle, methodologies, and best practices. Proven ability to plan, schedule, and deliver quality software.

Responsibilities
- Play a crucial role in product quality by overseeing end-to-end scenario validation integration work performed by team members.
- Design, develop, and operate scalable, low latency and high throughput cloud services and frameworks to stress storage backend.
- Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
- Take an active role and partner with peer teams and external partners to ensure new storage features meet target availability, security, and reliability goals, with an emphasis on quality upstream.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
- Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
