Join us as we take our collaboration product, Microsoft Teams, to the next level, embracing AI and expanding our reach. We are looking for a committed product leader to scale and operate our global infrastructure at optimal efficiency.

This Senior Technical Program Manager position is responsible for driving core infrastructure improvements that power Teams. You will partner with other groups across Teams and conduct data analysis to identify and deliver clear specifications that communicate requirements and work to secure commitments to deliver, making tradeoffs to maximize impact across several objectives. The incumbent will also define core metrics for their area and map out a strategy to improve product performance against those metrics. The role is a mix of business analysis, product thinking, technical depth, operational excellence, and cross team collaboration. It’s an impactful role that is both innovative and technical with the opportunity to improve how people work and collaborate.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 4+ years of program management experience delivering user-facing products and services.
  • Demonstrated understanding of technical concepts, including the ability to write complex queries, insightful dashboards, and implement automation of workflows.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Demonstrated understanding of web and mobile technologies, service operations at scale, and general ability to ramp up and go deep in new technical areas.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive patterns for managing and operating our services at scale.
  • Migrate and adopt new technologies that drive efficiency and reliability.
  • Deliver improvement options, data analysis, present proposals for change, requirements definition, and delivery of capabilities.
  • Manage dependencies across teams to ensure that features land on time with the required scope across desktop, mobile and web.
  • Engage with service owners to triage, prioritize, and address customer feedback for your area.
  • Contribute to the overall product strategy and roadmap, as well as stay in sync with end-user features and service infrastructure.
  • Track all defined deliverables from conception through launch, leveraging established processes, tools, and communications mechanisms.
