Overview

As a Technical Program Manager II in Azure Core, you will collaborate with teams across Microsoft to deliver new technology to Azure enabling customers to access the newest infrastructure to power their AI services.

This opportunity will allow you to see how new servers, networks and racks come together with software to build the cloud at hyperscale. You will partner with software engineers, building the control plane managing the cloud’s servers and network devices. You’ll work with hardware engineers, manufacturing and supply chain, datacenter technicians, and our external partners to ensure everything comes together. Your ability to handle a breadth of issues spanning all these teams and their areas will be challenged as you manage the complexity making it all possible while driving improvements that scale for the world.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience in any or all of cloud infrastructure management, datacenter design and operations, server and network equipment deployments, rack design, server design, server/network hardware/software interaction, automation and control systems, network engineering, distributed systems, new product and service development, high performance computing and GPUs.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of analytical skills, combined with experience solving complex business and technical problems.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 2+ years of experience working on hyperscale cloud platforms.
  • 2+ years experience building cloud applications, and knowledge of IaaS and PaaS offerings.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Responsibilities

  • You will partner with Software and Hardware Engineering to design technical solutions across feature areas, identify and assess risks and propose data-based mitigations.
  • You will define success criteria as you collaborate with others to implement features for cross-functional projects. You will coordinate and ensure alignment across teams.
  • With minimal supervision, you will help deliver on roadmap for feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation, and stay updated with governance programs.
  • You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and partnering with other departments to collect performance metrics. You’ll also contribute to customer support and participate in direct customer engagements.
