The Commerce + Ecosystem (CCE) Engineering team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build core technologies and intelligent experiences that directly impact Microsoft's global support and commerce operations. You will lead the design and development of secure, scalable, and intelligent platforms—infusing AI, agentic workflows, and automation to empower Microsoft advocates, partners, and customers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of Experience with agentic AI, Copilot integration, or AI workflow design.
  • 3+ years of experience driving technical and architectural dependencies with proficiency in C#, .NET, JavaScript, or equivalent languages/frameworks

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in app development using ASP.NET, Azure PaaS services like Web apps, Function Apps, Service Bus, Event Hub, REST API, SQL and NoSQL.
  • Experience with software development tools such as source control systems (GIT), automated build systems (CICD), software validation systems, project tracking, and lifecycle management systems.
  • Development experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Expertise in REACT, Node.js.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop large-scale distributed software services and solutions using Azure technologies such as Service Fabric, CosmosDB, Kubernetes, and Microsoft Graph.
  • Review product code and test code to ensure it meets team standards, contains the correct test coverage, and is appropriate for the product or solution area.
  • Build solutions that enable front-line teams to work smarter, respond faster, and resolve complex escalations more efficiently.
  • Integrate GitHub Copilot and Agentic AI frameworks (e.g., Microsoft Phi 3.5 AI, Semantic Kernel, OpenAI) to create autonomous workflows, discoverability skills, and rich Customer 360 views.
  • Deliver Customer 360 experiences and integrated workflows using agent copilots to reduce manual effort and empower frontline teams.
  • Build agentic AI solutions to combat nonpayment fraud, expanding and enhancing the Threshold Billing platform to proactively prevent revenue leakage across Azure and Office commerce streams.
  • Simplify credit processing workflows across Azure and Office products by developing unified, intelligent systems that scale globally and improve operational transparency.
  • Develop intelligent observability platforms to monitor transaction health, analyze escalations, and optimize cost and performance.
  • Deliver AI-first customer and partner experiences that proactively detect issues, recommending next steps, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Enable secure Just-In-Time (JIT) and Just-Enough-Access (JEE) access workflows to improve compliance and auditability.
