As part of the team, you’ll collaborate with other designers, content strategists, researchers, product managers, and engineers to envision, improve, and expand some of the fastest growing products at Microsoft.

In this role you will work on complex problems for customers who care deeply about both productivity and ease-of-use. We’re looking for a designer who’s driven by empathy for customers, and the need to know how to serve them better. You’ll work closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver the next generation of experiences to empower developers. Our ideal candidate has experience in the full life cycle of digital design, from envisioning to concepting to prototyping to execution.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
  • Experience solving for complex scenarios and utilizing analytical skills with a user-centered mindset.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security
    screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with developer tools, CI/CD workflows, or enterprise software.
  • Portfolio demonstrating thoughtful design decisions and impact in technical or enterprise contexts.
  • Ability to communicate design concepts clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.

Product Design IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.

  • Collaborate with program managers, engineers, and fellow designers to define user needs and translate them into elegant, scalable solutions.
  • Design and prototype user experiences for web and mobile applications, focusing on developer workflows and productivity.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and iterate based on feedback and data.
  • Apply design thinking to solve complex problems with clarity and empathy.
  • Balance scope and constraints to deliver high-impact designs on time.
  • Uphold design system standards and brand guidelines
