Overview

The Visual Studio Feedback and Subscriptions team is part of CoreAI’s Developer Division. The Visual Studio Feedback team is at the forefront of enhancing the connection between customers and Visual Studio engineers. We aim to deliver a seamless and integrated developer ecosystem by leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to transform customer feedback into actionable insights and improve the overall developer experience. In parallel, the Visual Studio Subscriptions team enables enterprises to manage Visual Studio subscriptions across their developers and subscribers to access a comprehensive suite of developer benefits.

We are looking for a Software Engineer II, who is interested in solving complex technical challenges, to help build reliable and performant services with great user experience.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) of experience with Cloud Services
  • 1+ year(s) of experience using Generative AI (Gen AI) to build features and experiences

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in building AI-driven applications, prompt engineering and model evaluation.
  • Web development skills (ASP.NET, React, etc.)
  • SQL, Kusto and Machine Learning (ML)
  • Self-driven and ability to work with minimal direction to research solutions to challenging business/technical problems.
  • Data-driven approach to software engineering

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop features for customers to manage Visual Studio subscriptions and benefits
  • Build and enhance the Developer Community platform using AI to foster direct engagement between customers and Visual Studio engineers.
  • Work with AI for multitude of features on the platform, which helps improve productivity not just on the VS team; but other services leveraging the platform including customers.
  • Implement automation to improve operational efficiency and customer engagement.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reliability and security across services.
  • Learn, drive and improve modern software engineering practices across design/code reviews, testing and deployment
  • Collaborate with internal and external Microsoft partner teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality user experiences.
  • Participate in agile development practices, including sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous integration.
