Overview
Building and running services at scale for Microsoft 365 for hundreds of million consumer and enterprise users is very challenging, but it is a lot of fun and rewarding. We are looking for a Software Engineer II at many levels to help us do just that to power and deliver on IC3 mission. This opportunity will allow you to make a broad positive impact across many critical IC3 domains such as chat, audio/video calling, meetings, service and data engineering, and service management.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of industrial experiences in software development preferably. in real-time media development.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with real time communication protocols like RTP/SRTP/RTCP.
- Hands-on experience with streaming protocols like HLS/DASH.
- Hands-on experience with WebRTC stack.
- Hands-on experience with application of big data, machine learning techniques to improve systems.
- Practitioner of the latest engineering methodologies; Unit testing, TDD, Agile etc.
- Excellent C++ and C skills.
- Experience with programming for networking, multi-threaded systems, and/or real time media.
- Good understanding of system software including OS and networking.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Responsibilities
- The IC3 media team is responsible for the research and development of the core real time media stack components enabling the Teams family products to work across the variety of platforms as well as enabling highly scalable media servers running in the cloud.
- We are looking for a talented developer with an interest and potentials in building highly reliable and scalable network services, highly dependable mission critical meeting/calling products as well as applying large data and machine learning techniques for competitive innovations.
- You will be designing and implementing the client and server media streaming/communication components, interfacing with other teams to improve and extend existing functionalities, analyzing production telemetry for areas of improvements, and working with the partner teams on improvements in testing and benchmarking the core media services.
