Overview
The Commercial Product and Infrastructure (CPI) Finance organization is responsible for driving Microsoft Cloud & AI (artificial intelligence) capacity, margin excellence, and resource allocation rigor across Microsoft’s portfolio. Within CPI, the Resource Investment Strategy Finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving team that partners deeply with engineering leaders to ensure $20B+ resources across ~100K engineering FTEs (full-time employees) are continuously aligned to strategic priorities.
The Senior Finance Manager, Engineering Resource Analytics, will work closely with Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) engineering leaders, as CO+I is the engine that powers our cloud services. This role partners with engineering to plan, prioritize and execute head-count resources and investment allocation, enable operating leverage to support long-term capacity growth. You will leverage financial modeling and problem-solving abilities at multiple altitudes (high-level strategy to tactical execution), as well as navigate complexity and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of financial or data modeling experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
- OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ year(s) experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
- 1+ year(s) work experience in matrix-based organization.
- 1+ year(s) work experience in the technology or software industry.
- Financial analysis experience in a high-tech company and presentation skills.
- Experience in developing complex financial models and scenario analysis; quantitative analysis skills.
- Ability to influence and impact without authority, operate in ambiguity, and solve difficult problems, combined with the ability to prioritize and function well in a dynamic and matrix environment.
- Interpersonal and cross-group collaboration skills with an ability to drive simplicity within a complex and matrix environment.
- Proficient technical skills, including Microsoft Excel, Power BI and SQL.
Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.

Responsibilities
- Long Range Planning (LRP) modeling and driver based head-count modeling.
- Define and implement scalable frameworks for multi-year long-range planning.
- Business and Finance Partnership: apply strategic thinking into head-count resource planning to maximize investment through industry benchmarking, giving engineering and finance leadership visibility to the current resource landscape, identifying and recommending levers to drive operating leverage and efficiencies through resource prioritzation and reallocation. Communicate trade-off scenarios and provide financial analysis for recommendations.
- Business Health and Planning: Lead long range planning rhythms with engineering partners. Partner with stakeholders to craft the capacity investment story through deep business understanding and collaboration.
