The Windows Data Team is responsible for building out infrastructure to support A/B testing at scale for both hypothesis driven product development and for regression detection within our software deployment system. We are looking for engineers to join us and extend the capabilities of this system. This will be a unique opportunity to work on a cross-discipline team with data science, engineering, and program management to build out internal decision support capabilities at the scale of Windows.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (with software focus) or Data Science (with software focus).
  • Minimum 2 year of experience developing software-based solutions in languages such as C#, Java, TypeScript, Python or other high level programming language. Lower-level languages such as C/C++ are also perfectly acceptable.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the use of AI to accomplish certain coding tasks.
  • Good knowledge of cloud and distributed computing concepts.
  • Good problem solving, debugging, collaboration and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
These are qualifications that would be good to have, but they are optional. No candidate will have all of these. It is acceptable to have none.
  • Data science and statistical knowledge, especially in the areas of A/B experimentation or experience building tools to support Data Science or experimentation.
  • Knowledge and preferably academic or industry level experience developing web-based applications.
  • Experience or familiarity with any web technology stacks is a plus, such as Angular or React.
  • Understanding of what makes a great user interface and user experience.
  • Familiarity with web-based API using REST and micro services.
  • Relational and/or non-relational (NoSQL) databases.
  • C/C++ knowledge or a solid understanding of lower-levels computer science concepts.
  • General knowledge of analytics, statistics, and data visualization.
  • Data science knowledge, or experience with machine learning.
  • Classroom-level understanding of operating systems.

Responsibilities

Software engineers work with teammates to solve problems and build innovative software solutions. You will be expected to demonstrate an ability to learn and adopt relevant new technologies, tools, methods and processes to leverage in your solutions.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Own complex features end-to-end, through planning, design, development, release, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with program managers, and fellow engineers to define requirements.
  • Design, build and run services at high scale and availabilit.
  • Deliver high-quality code components that will power the experiences for our products.
  • Maintain code standards regarding quality, privacy, accessibility, security, documentation, etc..
  • Taking on support rotations for the service as a designated responsible engineer (DRI).
