Xbox Cloud Gaming’s Streaming team is seeking a motivated Software Engineer ll with interest in shipping video streaming applications across devices and the web. Ideal candidates should think broadly, collaborate well, be able to tackle a diverse mix of technologies, and enjoy enabling gamers to play anywhere.

Qualifications

Main Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Windows application development.
  • 2+ years of experience with streaming, networking, graphics (capture, rendering, or other), and/or game development technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Motivated to learn and push the boundaries in challenging technical domains.
  • Skilled in design, debugging, and problem-solving.
  • Experience developing in a standards-based web environment.
  • Comfortable in a continuously delivering, responsive, and agile product team.
  • Experience with computer networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with delivering video streaming or computer graphics applications on networks – MSE, HLS, MPEG DASH, etc.
  • Experience with Windows desktop capture technology – Windows Graphics Capture, Indirect Display Driver, etc. Experience with Graphics APIs such as DirectX11, DirectX12, and DXGI.
  • Experience with browser content engines and web standards – Chromium, WebKit, Gecko, WebRTC, WASM, etc.
  • Experience with Build and DevOps Systems, including Azure DevOps Build and Release pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Drive feature development across the server and client streaming technologies stack, leveraging the full Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and fix product issues in development and production.
  • Contribute to an inclusive, creative, high-performance, problem-solving team culture.
  • Reliably deliver high-quality, testable, and reliable code in a production setting.
