Overview

Microsoft’s Corporate Accounting organization is looking for a highly motivated, collaborative accounting professional who enjoys working independently and with high levels of responsibility to join our Corporate Revenue Assurance team.

Revenue Assurance focuses on defining policy, implementing accounting guidance, enhancing and consulting on revenue recognition controls and policies, researching revenue recognition questions and analyzing and reporting consolidated financial results.

This Senior Finance Manager - Technical Revenue Accounting will be focused on assessing product revenue recognition. Key focus will be on reviewing and documenting the accounting position for new product launches, coordinating with the revenue systems team on system implementations that support new product launches, and closely partnering with business, finance, and controllership teams across the company.

This Senior Finance Manager - Technical Revenue Accounting position requires a collaborative and motivated individual who enjoys working with people to deeply understand the business strategy and related processes. The Corporate Revenue Assurance team has high visibility to upper-level management across the business groups and corporate accounting.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 4+ years accounting or finance experience
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) experience in a matrix-based organization

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent
  • US GAAP knowledge and experience with emphasis on ASC 606

Accounting IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a topic specialist for revenue recognition under Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 606, providing accounting guidance and consultations to business partners across the company
  • Work with Finance, Business Planning, Business Operations and others to assess product roadmap and launch plans for appropriate revenue recognition
  • Support product launch process by identifying and providing revenue recognition requirements, and highlighting risks and potential system limitations
  • Key contributor to the evaluation of revenue recognition issues including writing accounting positions
  • Prepare and present training to business partners
