We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Content PM Manager to join our Security Content Organization. This role is ideal for an innovative self-starter who has a strong background in people management, content organizations, exceptional program management skills, a passion for redefining how technical content is created, delivered, and experienced, and deep AI expertise.

As a Principal PM Manager, you will manage a team of PMs and writers who operate at the intersection of strategy, innovation and execution - driving a variety of initiatives that span multiple teams and organizations and delivering substantial impact across Microsoft’s content ecosystem and security business. You will have a range of PM responsibilities, starting with critical work focused on leading and guiding the Microsoft Security technical documentation organization through AI transformation, and then extending to other core PM responsibilities spanning tools, infrastructure, cross-team processes, content metrics mapped across the customer journey lifecycle, and more. With this, the ideal candidate is someone who is highly versatile, adaptable, willing to experiment, and with a strong growth mindset amidst an ever-changing business landscape.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience in program management, digital content publishing and management, or experience in a writing or editing role OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years indirect or direct people management experience.

Other Requirements:

  • The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in program, product, or content management, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • 3 + years in people management, coaching, PMs or writers and driving morale across the team.
  • Demonstrated success leading initiatives within content or product domains.
  • Demonstrated success leading initiatives within content or product domains.
  • Proven track record of leading innovation or automation projects at scale.
  • Effective cross-functional collaborator, with experience partnering closely with engineering to define product requirements and technical specifications.
  • Proven track record of adaptability, versatility, and the ability to pivot quickly and learn new skills
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in iterative, fast-paced environments.
  • Deep understanding of technical documentation practices, content lifecycle workflows, and industry standards.
  • Experience with structured content systems, including Markdown, docs-as-code frameworks, and modern content platforms or CMS tools.
  • Experience with change management and running large-scale training programs
  • Background in developer content, security, or cloud technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs) including prompt engineering and agent creation and management.
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to drive cultural change across diverse teams.
  • Experience working in matrixed, global organizations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Learn, Docs, or similar platforms.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in leading org-wide transformation efforts.
  • Strategic thinking, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with common AI use cases in documentation, such as auto-tagging, summarization, semantic search, answer generation, and content repurposing.

Content Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
