The Security Engineering team within Microsoft Security helps to identify threats and gaps in the very tools that protect the planet's largest, most influential organizations from cyberattacks.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
9+ years experience in software development lifecycle, large scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection
- OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Risk Management, Cyber Security, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years people management.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Risk Management, Cyber Security,
OR related field
OR 8+ years' experience in software development lifecycle, large scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection OR equivalent experience.
2+ years people management.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification, Security+ Certification, or relevant certification.
Security Assurance M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.

Responsibilities
Leads a team of technical experts to uphold and evolve standards in security architecture, analysis, design, and assurance. This role provides thought leadership across teams, proactively identifying and addressing complex security challenges while influencing security standards both within and beyond Microsoft. The Security Assurance Manager drives the creation of scalable mechanisms for best practice sharing and ensures Microsoft remains a visible leader in security expertise.
This role oversees architectural and security design reviews across a suite of features, ensuring work is properly resourced, prioritized, and aligned with strategic goals. Responsibilities include real-time reprioritization, cross-team collaboration, and the orchestration of efforts across diverse specialties. The manager also plays a key role in people development—driving employee growth, managing performance, and executing high-impact projects. A critical aspect of the role is anticipating emerging security risks and closing gaps through innovation and deep technical insight.
