The Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) team is at the heart of Microsoft’s container strategy, delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance orchestration services for both Linux and Windows workloads. As part of this team, you’ll help shape the tools and platforms that developers and enterprises rely on to build, deploy, and manage modern applications in the cloud.
As a Software Engineer II on the AKS team, you will contribute to the design, development, and operation of Kubernetes-based infrastructure at scale. You’ll work closely with engineers across Azure and the open-source community to improve the performance, reliability, and usability of our services. This role will give you the opportunity to accelerate your career growth by working on one of Azure’s most strategic services, deepen your technical expertise in Kubernetes and distributed systems, and hone your skills in building resilient, cloud-native infrastructure. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial software development.
- 1+ year(s) of experience building, shipping, and operating reliable, distributed solutions.
- 1+ year(s) of experience engaging in site-reliability engineering practices.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
- OR related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ year(s) of experience with workload/container orchestration using Kubernetes or similar platforms.
- 1+ year(s) of experience with container runtimes such as Docker, Rkt, runC, and understanding of how they interface with underlying OS components.
- 1+ year(s) of experience in Golang.
- 1+ year(s) of experience working in Linux environments.
