Overview

The Microsoft Global Media Team is responsible for planning, activating, and managing all paid media investments across Microsoft’s product portfolio. We partner with internal product and business groups to deliver innovative, data-driven media strategies that drive measurable business impact. Our team is committed to excellence, inclusion, and leadership in the media industry—pushing boundaries in media innovation, technology, and partnerships. We are seeking a Director – Paid Media Channels to lead a team of digital media channel specialists across mobile, paid search, paid social, and programmatic media. This leader will be responsible for driving transformation of Microsoft’s cross-campaign channel strategies and best practices, fostering innovation, and helping establish Microsoft’s place as a leader in the media industry. In this role, you will be strategic and have media experience, leadership capabilities, and an interest in mentoring talent and building meaningful relationships with media partners, publishers, and platforms.

Job Location: The primary location for this position is Redmond, WA. Additionally, there are three other locations where this role may be based: Atlanta, GA, Mountain View, CA, and New York City, New York. This role is flexible in that you can work up to 50% from home.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Advertising, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 6+ years experience in digital media with experience working across multiple paid media channels OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people management experience.
  • 3+ years experience managing large media budgets and working in complex stakeholder/matrixed environments, or related experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in media, marketing, or advertising on the client or agency side.
  • 10+ years experience working across offline paid media channels (e.g., broadcast TV, cinema, print, audio, out of home [OOH]).
  • 10+ years experience working across digital media channels (e.g., pay-per-lead, social, programmatic buying, addressable TV).
  • 10+ years experience using data-driven media tactics, including advanced targeting models, measurement and learning plans, making optimizations based on data.
  • 10+ years experience managing projects (e.g., communications, internal stakeholder management timelines, prioritization, road mapping).
  • 10+ years experience search engine marketing campaigns (e.g., keyword governance, ad copy creation, audience targeting).
  • 10+ years experience paid social experience (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, Twitch, Twitter, and YouTube).

Media M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Global Media campaign teams and internal stakeholders across marketing, analytics, and product teams to align media strategies with business goals.
  • Industry Leadership: Represent Microsoft in the media industry. Build and maintain relationships with key media partners, publishers, and platforms.
