Within Azure Data, the Microsoft Fabric platform team builds and maintains the operating system and provides customers a unified data stack to run an entire data estate. The platform provides a unified experience, unified governance, enables a unified business model and a unified architecture.

Microsoft’s Fabric Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Within Fabric, Data Team builds telemetry pipelines for both internal and external customers. This is a mission critical service built for scale, compliance and data guarantees also leveraging our world class technologies like Power BI, Azure Data Explorer, EventHub, Azure Data Factory to ensure robust telemetry flow and ease of consumption for diagnostics and analytics.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
OR equivalent experience
• 6+ years of professional software development experience, including demonstrated experience designing, building, and operating scalable, production-grade systems
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, C, C++, JavaScript, or Python
Proven ability to drive technical direction, influence architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Ability to work with relational databases (like SQL server, T-SQL) and semi-structured or NoSQL databases (like Cosmos DB, Azure Table/Blob storage etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communications skills including proven experience communicating clearly and precise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

· Lead the design, development, and maintenance of core services, APIs, and SDKs that produce, pipeline, and consume telemetry at scale.
· Partner with stakeholders across engineering, PM, and infrastructure to shape and evolve service data models and telemetry architecture using Azure and proprietary technologies.
· Drive technical direction and improvements across areas of ownership, setting quality and reliability standards for the team.
· Provide architectural guidance and lead end-to-end delivery of complex features and platform capabilities.
· Mentor and support the growth of other engineers through code/design reviews, technical planning, and knowledge sharing.
· Proactively identify and resolve systemic issues impacting service health, scalability, or developer velocity.
· Lead on-call practices and improve operational excellence through robust alerting, automation, and incident response processes.
